Job Details:

  • Start: April
  • Ages of Children: 9yo, 4yo
  • Driving: Driver’s license required. Parking available. Family car available during shift.
  • Schedule (base): M/Tu 2pm-6:30pm, W/Th 1pm-9:30pm, F 12pm-6pm (32 guaranteed hours/week)
    • The family can consider a 9pm end time on W/Th.
    • If a 24 hour guarantee is preferred, the family can consider a schedule of M/Tu 2pm-6pm, W/Th 1pm-9pm, and no Friday shift OR for a ~36 hour guarantee, a few morning shifts of 7:30am-9:30am could be added.
  • Travel: Required. Traveling alongside the family on vacations, plus working at their Harvard, MA home for 3 non-consecutive weeks per year.
  • Salary: $35-40/hr (depending on experience) + healthcare reimbursement

A loving family in Cambridge is searching for a long-term nanny to begin as soon as the right match is found. They have 2 children ages 9 and 4, who attend school until mid-afternoon each day.

The base schedule for this position is M/Tu 2pm-6:30pm, W/Th 1pm-9:30pm, F 12pm-6pm for a guarantee of 32 hours/week. If a 24 hour guarantee is preferred, the family can consider a schedule of M/Tu 2pm-6pm, W/Th 1pm-9pm, and no Friday shift OR for a ~36 hour guarantee, a few morning shifts of 7:30am-9:30am could be added. Responsibilities include school pick-ups, transportation to activities, planning engaging outings, and spending ample time outdoors. This role emphasizes supporting the children’s curiosity and development through nature-based play, hands-on building, creative exploration, and embracing the journey along the way. Additional duties include preparing healthy meals for the family, assisting with family laundry, running errands, managing organizational projects, and maintaining general tidiness throughout the day. Local city driving is required.

Both parents work from home on occasion. Best matches for this family are nurturing, creative, strong communicators who are able to expand on teachable moments each day. Spanish-speaking candidates are encouraged to apply. Candidates must be comfortable with a “divide and conquer” approach, working collaboratively with mom through portions of the afternoon routine. A solid understanding of child development, the ability to provide ample transition time, and a familiarity with Montessori-based principles are important for for success in this role. Candidates must be open to receiving ongoing COVID boosters as well as an annual flu vaccine.
